Niamh McFarlane

I am a young emerging Artist based in Scotland and have recently graduated with an Hons Art & Design from University of Stirling. My achievements to date are my paintings being part of The Smith Art Gallery’s private permanent collection and being represented by City Contemporary Gallery in Perth after winning their annual painting prize for the City Contemporary Art Exhibition Award.    

My work represents personal emotion through exploration of colour, intuitively applied through my painting practise. I experiment with a variety of mediums and mark-making, enjoying the physical interaction with large-scale painting, using the canvas as a release of emotion and form of therapy. I want to challenge how we experience colour, accepting what it looks like, and discover how this makes you feel.
