Ewan John

Ewan John is an artist and educator living and working under the shadow of Cairnpapple Hill, Torphichen. He graduated from Edinburgh College Art in 1996 and has been a lecturer in Art & Design for over 10 years. Ewan is a professional member of the Society of Scottish Artists and an advocate of practice-based learning. He is committed to expanding opportunities for learners through live projects and new platforms.

The central subject of Ewan’s painting practice focuses on the traces of Neolithic existence in the hills surrounding his home. Through experimentation with shape and form, he utilises raw, earthy materials to convey a tangible connection between a sense of place and the challenges facing both past and present existence.
