Ken McClymont
I was born and raised in Glasgow and studied Fine-Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee from 1977-82 where I gained a Commended Post-Diploma.
Since my much valued figurative training I have constantly examined and challenged myself to produce timeless, placeless, questioning work that can excite and in some cases quite possibly infuriate the viewer. Investigating and continually examining what I believe makes a successful work of art, the pieces are created to be continually and newly discovered. I believe I produce exciting, accessible work that asks questions of me (and the viewer) that I attempt to answer. Despite their somewhat simple motif there is constant challenge whilst producing these pieces, the juxtaposition of balanced or contrasting colours provides what I would like the spectator to see as timeless pieces of two dimensional ‘music’.
I also direct and design ‘new’ writing theatre and have been for thirty three years in the UK.
My art is in private collections in Canada, USA, Ireland, Spain, France and UK.
